“Achieving Excellence Through Innovation” Dr. Michael M. Crow, President, Arizona State University
Under Dr. Crow’s leadership, ASU has been recognized as the most innovative university in America. He has led the transformation of ASU into one of the nation’s leading research universities, an institution that combines the highest levels of academic excellence, inclusiveness to a broad demographic, and maximum societal impact—a model he terms the “New American University.” Under his direction the university pursues teaching, research, and creative excellence focused on the major challenges of our time, as well as those central to the quality of life, sustainable development, and economic competitiveness of Arizona and the nation. He has committed the university to sustainability, social embeddedness, and global engagement through initiatives leading to record levels of diversity in the student body.

Michael is responsible for school improvement in several districts. He ensures Scholastic Education is able to support educators in improving student learning through its focus on: instructional materials, professional learning for teachers, family and community initiatives, as well as consulting services designed to strengthen systems of learning supports. He keeps people informed on trends in education affecting administrators, principals and teachers.
“The Magic of Mindfulnes” Jamie Valderrama Former Arizona Teacher of the Year and Ambassador for Excellence
Jamie is a lecturer at ASU in the School of Social Work. She is passionate about providing tools for responsive living via mindful practices. She uses that knowledge to help the community and ASU integrate it into their coursework. Jamie currently teaches stress management courses focusing on first responders and health professionals. Jamie conducts keynotes nationally and internationally on the personal and professional benefits of mindfulness.
